“The Letter”. September Sensation from Jack Vettriano at Jack’s Gallery

The Latest Release from Jack Vettriano is Sensational

Jack’s Gallery has a rare Artist’s Proof 5/5 plus a Limited Edition of this stunning picture

“The Letter”

“The Letter” by Jack Vettriano was first shown at the 1998 Exhibition entitled “Between Darkness and Dawn” at the Portland Gallery.   This Exhibition also featured another of Vettriano’s best known works “Dance Me to the End of Love”.

This must be one of the most poignant images by Jack Vettriano. The painting draws us into the room and we can see another Vettriano “Billy Boys” style picture behind her The beautiful woman is lying on a chaise longue wearing a blue evening dress. She has the trademark cigarette in her left hand.  She appears to be in despair and a letter is dangling from her left hand.  Is this a letter from a lover, telling her the romance is over?  Or is there another possibility?  Is it a declaration of love after a wonderful night out? As always, Vettriano asks us the question.

Description

The pictures are mounted and framed in a gold lined black wooden frame.  The overall framed size is 83 x 98 cm and is a Giclee Print on Board. Jack’s Gallery, as one of the topmost Vettriano Galleries in the U.K., has acquired a very rare Artist’s Proof No 5/5.  We also hold a Limited Edition of a run of only 50.  All Editions have now sold out from the Publishers.  The pictures come with a full Certificate of Authenticity and are signed and numbered by the Artist.

Jack Vettriano Summer Collection

These are just some of the wonderful images from our Jack Vettriano Summer Collection. As one of the premier UK galleries specialising in the work of this very popular Artist, we are delighted to be able to show a Summer Collection of his work. We also have many more of his romantic images, filled with light. Plus we stock many of his more recent artworks, which show his darker and more erotic side.

History of these Paintings

“Mad Dogs” and “The Picnic Party” are some of Vettriano’s earliest works, the former in 1991 and the latter in 1992. Using the medium of oil on canvas, he shows his brilliant command of using light to bring these paintings to life.

“The Days of Wine & Roses” was painted for the Kirkcaldy Art Museum, where 40 new paintings were exhibited. The Exhibition was held  in 2010 and was fittingly entitled “The Days of Wine & Roses”.

“Scorched” was originally painted for the Retrospective Exhibition in 2013 and published as a Limited Edition print at the same time.

“The Waltzers” is the most recent painting, going on sale at Bonhams in March 2015.  The painting was estimated to fetch between £200,000 and £300,000.

Start your Jack Vettriano Summer Collection now by either visiting or contacting us. As well as our stunning pictures we offer a complete framing service, which will complement your pictures perfectly.

The exhibition was the tenth and final exhibition by Vettriano at The Portland Gallery.

Of the twenty-four paintings that were featured, ALL were sold to private collectors prior to the opening, but six of the paintings had Limited Editions also available.

This truly stunning picture of a  vibrant and sexy young woman on a motorbike, is set against the backdrop of the Riviera. Her dark jeans and helmet contrast with her thinly strapped white T-shirt. Tanned and wearing dark sunglasses her  gold jewellery contrasts perfectly against her tanned skin.  The breeze is gently fluttering her hair and the bunting.  The powerful motorbike shows off her femininity,  and the whole image is framed against the vivid deep blue Mediterranean.  Although not painted in the 1960s the picture has a retro feel and gives a feeling of the carefree youthfulness and new found independence of a young woman riding a man’s bike.

Jack’s Gallery has acquired  2 Artist’s Proofs, including the highly collectable No 1 of 20, plus a Limited Edition of this wonderful picture.  Call us for more details.

“Pincer Movement” print by Jack Vettriano

This Erotic Painting formed part of the “Affairs of the Heart” Exhibition in 2004

This Exhibition was held at the Portland Gallery, London from June to July 2004  and was a sell out of all 33 of Vettriano’s Paintings shown. This was Jack’s first Exhibition for four years.  Other Paintings included “Along Came a Spider”

“Pincer Movement” was sold to a private bidder. It was then published in 2006 with an edition run of 495 plus 50 Artist’s Proofs and belongs to the erotic and dark collection of Jack Vettriano’s Artwork.

The woman has undone her coat, revealing nothing but black underwear underneath.  Her arms are open and inviting.  The man has her lips held between his fingers  of his right hand, ensuring she is perfectly positioned to kiss him.  The trademark cigarette is held in his left hand with his shirt sleeves and cuffs hanging loose and collar undone.  The background of dark green with the retro yellow lamp add to the atmosphere of the picture, and Vettriano’s touches of the pearl earrings against her black hair as always catch the attention.  The room gives the impression of a hotel bedroom.  Is this an illicit affair?  Are they married?  As always Jack Vettriano leaves us asking questions.

“The Proposal” Is The Latest Vettriano Release at Jack’s Gallery

“The Proposal” by Jack Vettriano – Artist’s Proofs Nos 2 & 3 plus Limited Edition No 8 at Jack’s Gallery

Due to high demand this Latest Release has already sold out from the Publisher in the pre-order period.

“The Proposal” belongs to the Romantic Artwork of Jack Vettriano

“The Proposal” is the latest release by the publishers of Vettriano’s work and is simply beautiful.  With a retro feel, it shows a couple intertwined and deeply in love.  The man is protecting his beloved from the sun with his umbrella and he has a look of complete adoration on his face.  The way Vettriano uses the light of the sky as a background to the pale yellows of the sands and the woman’s summer dress is outstanding.  This painting has so many of the “romantic” trademarks of  his earlier works.  The figures set against railings with the sea, sky and sand in the background.  “Anniversary Waltz”, “Bad Boy, Good Girl” “Summertime Blues” “The Big Tease” “The Game of Life”and “Blue Blue” all feature these trademarks.  Two of Vettriano’s most famous paintings, “The Singing Butler” and “Mad Dogs”, also feature backgrounds with the same romantic theme, including the umbrellas but without the railings.

“The Proposal” is in good company artistically with other Famous Proposals

Many, many Artists are renowned for portraying romance and proposals in their works.  “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt, “The Lovers” by Rene Magritte, “Chez le Pere Lathuille” by Edouard Manet, “In Bed The Kiss” by Toulouse-Lautrec, are all so well-known across the world. There are also the many paintings by father and son artists Charles and Fredrick Soulacroix, featuring “The Proposal”, “Enchantee” “The Marriage Proposal” and “Flirtation” as some of their most famous works.  Literature, of course, is full of famous proposals and romance. Jane Eyre and Mr Rochester , Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara, Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet and the most famous lovers of all, Romeo and Juliet.

Jack’s Gallery is delighted to have this latest romantic piece of art from Jack Vettriano.  Please ring our Gallery for further details.
