This Erotic Painting formed part of the “Affairs of the Heart” Exhibition in 2004
This Exhibition was held at the Portland Gallery, London from June to July 2004 and was a sell out of all 33 of Vettriano’s Paintings shown. This was Jack’s first Exhibition for four years. Other Paintings included “Along Came a Spider”
“Pincer Movement” was sold to a private bidder. It was then published in 2006 with an edition run of 495 plus 50 Artist’s Proofs and belongs to the erotic and dark collection of Jack Vettriano’s Artwork.
The woman has undone her coat, revealing nothing but black underwear underneath. Her arms are open and inviting. The man has her lips held between his fingers of his right hand, ensuring she is perfectly positioned to kiss him. The trademark cigarette is held in his left hand with his shirt sleeves and cuffs hanging loose and collar undone. The background of dark green with the retro yellow lamp add to the atmosphere of the picture, and Vettriano’s touches of the pearl earrings against her black hair as always catch the attention. The room gives the impression of a hotel bedroom. Is this an illicit affair? Are they married? As always Jack Vettriano leaves us asking questions.
